William Anthony Smith

July 28, 1947 — November 10, 2019

  1. William Smith, 72, of Indianapolis, passed away on November 10, 2019.   Mr. Smith was a former employee of WTLC Radio as an Air Personality popularly known as "The Rubberband Man".  He was also an avid fisherman.  He'll be remembered for his partnering with the late "Snookie" Hendricks in efforts to improve our community.   He was an active member of the Black Panthers and served his country in the United States Marine Corp and did tours in Vietnam. 

He leaves many loving family members who will cherish his memory including:  mother, Myrtle Lee Wallace; son, Raheem (Ruby) Smith, step-son, Marty; daughters, Veronica R. Smith-Crudup, Khaliah Smith, stepdaughters, Shemika Hatcher Chinethea; brothers, Hudie Wallace, Michael Wallace, Victor Smith; sisters, Tabatha Wallace, Stephanie Wallace; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Services for Mr. Smith will be Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 12:00 noon will calling from 11:00 am until time of services at Eastside Missionary Baptist Church located at 2845 Baltimore Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46218.  Floral tributes may be delivered to the church beginning one hour prior to time of calling.
