Mr. William Franklin Scott was born May 3, 1939 the son of Ernest Franklin Scott and Ula Mae Pirtle in Hardiman County Whiteville, Tennessee. William was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the age of 78.  He was the oldest of 16 brothers and sisters.    William grew up in Whiteville, Tennessee.  He received his high school diploma from Allen White High School.  He was an active member of Future Farmers of America (FFA) while in high school.  William was employed by and retired from Conrail, now known as CSX. He kept close relationships with his former coworkers and enjoyed meeting up with them frequently at Cracker Barrel for breakfast. William committed his life to Christ at an early age and at the Hovey Street Church of Christ.    William met Vivian Scott at the age of 31 and they united in marriage on May 1, 1976.  On September 24, 1984, their daughter, Taneekqua M. Scott was born of their union.   Affectionately known as “Scotty”, William was a loving husband, dad, brother, uncle and friend.  He was truly the comedian, and made everyone smile and laugh. He never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.                                        He was preceded in death by his parents.      William leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Vivian Scott; daughters, Taneekqua Scott and Doretha Graves; brothers, Alexander Scott (Dorothy), Jessie Lee Bufford (Vera), Larry Bufford (Sharolette), Ruben Earl Bufford, and Dwight Tate; sisters, Lucy Allen, Sally Rae Williams, Emma Lou Bufford, Corrinthian Hayes (Bobby), Lyn Rae Scott, Alma Joyce Scott, Judy Garrett, Mable Jones, and Rose Gordon;  grandson, DaShawn Scott; other grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws, loving family members and friends.   Services - Saturday, July 1 at 12 p.m. Visitation at 11 a.m.  Hovey Street Church of Christ, 2338 Hovey Street.  Burial New Crown Cemetery. www.bluittandson.com
