Ola Mae Sweeney

February 17, 1940 — August 15, 2018

Ola Mae Sweeney, aged 78, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2018 at Bridgewater Healthcare in Carmel, Indiana.

Ola was born February 17, 1940, in Sumter, South Carolina, the daughter of Charles and Annie Blair.

Ola thoroughly enjoyed family time, working in the church and shopping. On August 19, 1960, Ola married the love of her life, the late Roy A. Sweeney Sr. in New York City, NY. In the late 1970’s they relocated to West Palm Beach, Florida where Ola was employed by Palm Beach County Schools. In addition to raising their children, she also volunteered regularly at their family church and was also a member of the choir. Ola was a member of Port Saint Lucie Seventh Day Adventist Church in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Roy A. Sweeney Sr., four sisters, Martha Rizzo, Elizabeth Rose, Pearline Dunlap, Earline Wester; three brothers, Willie Blair, Charles Blair and Arthur Blair.

She is survived by Daughter: Audrey D. Mullins (Dennis); Sons Roy A. Sweeney Jr. (Sherita), Rasheen Sweeney (Savonne); Brothers: James Blair (Bernice); Sisters: Catherine Andrews, Agnes Swinton, Sallie Summers (James), Easter Brunson (Wallace), Bobbie McClary (Harry); 20 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.

The Homegoing Celebration is Friday, August 24, 2018, 11am at Belmont Baptist Church, 901 Mason Road, Columbia, South Carolina. Interment is in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
