Michael Lee Haynes

Mr. Michael Lee Haynes, 74 of Indianapolis was called from labor to reward on the evening of May 18, 2020.  Mr. Haynes was a native of Indianapolis and a member of New Zion Community Church where he proudly served on the Ministerial Staff, Men's Church School Teacher, and member of the  Knights of Zion.  He was also a Tae Kwon Do teacher with his own school.  He was also a Frontiersman, and taught at the Ervin Center for underprivileged children in Gastonia, North Carolina.  A Free Mason, he enjoyed traveling and loved being around family and friends.

He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory: his loving wife Helen M. Haynes; brothers and sisters In law James and Barbara Gordon, and Jerry and Shirley Currence; daughter Sonya C. Ray; brother Charles Madison; sisters Patricia Williams, Diane Gray, and "special sister" Rev. Cecelia Thurman; grandchildren Christian Jackson and Alexander Ray; and great-grandchildren Karter Jackson and Omari Jackson; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Homegoing services will be Saturday, May 23, 2020 at 12:00 noon with calling from 11:00 am until time of services at New Zion Community Church, 955 Oliver Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46221.  Floral tributes may be delivered to the church beginning one hour prior to time of calling.
