Mattie Nadine Newsom

Mattie Nadine Newsom 71, Kokomo, transition Saturday, May 29, 2021 Mrs. Newsom entered into this world Thursday, June 23, 1949, the daughter of the Rev. Charles E. and Ruby C. Woodson. She was preceded in death by her father. She was married to Nathan Newsom Jr., who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, John Curry. She received her early education from Pisgah Elementary School in Port Royal Tennessee, and attended historic Burt High School. Mrs. Newsom was a 1967 Kokomo High School graduate. She’d received A degree in business from Indiana University and a masters degree from Ball State University. Nadine, as she was affectionately called, was a retiree of Delco Electronics Division of GM after 30 years. She’d also been employed by Ivy-Tech College in excess of 15 years where she also retired. She was an active 50 year plus member of Mount Pisgah of Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the mass choir. She was also a member of the adult Sunday school, helping hands ministry and several other committees within the ministry. She’ll be greatly missed by all she touched. Services begin at 11 AM Saturday, June 5 at the Wayman Chapel AME Church with Pastor Lonnie E. Anderson as officiant and eulogist.
