John Phillip Garrett, 79 of Indianapolis passed away on June 3, 2020 at his residence.  Mr. Garrett was an avid golfer and had participated in many national tournaments. He especially loved playing at Riverside and Douglas Park.  He also participated annually in the Mozel Sanders Annual Thanksgiving Dinner.  

He leaves a loving family to cherish his memory including his sons John Artist Garrett (Shirley), Shawn Garrett, Anthony Garrett; daughter LaDonna Franklin; brothers Julius Garrett and Louis Garrett' sister Margaret Garrett; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A memorial viewing and visitation will take place on Saturday, June 20th from 10:00 am until noon at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 1301 N. Goodlet Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46222.  Floral tributes may be delivered to the church beginning one hour prior to visitation.  He will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery.
