Jeffery Allen Smith

Mr. Jeffrey Allen Smith (Funk), 63, entered into this life on April 1, 1958, in Kokomo, Indiana. Jeffrey loved to give back to his community through the coaching of its youth. He displayed this commitment at the Carver Community Center, where he coached young children from the Kokomo area the popular sport of basketball. Jeffrey also coached Eastside Little League for numerous years in addition to the PAL Football League. As a result of his coaching, many of the community's youth received great character building that can only be derived through the practice of good sportsmanship. He was employed by NHK Seating of Frankfort, Indiana, and was a member of the Refreshing Springs COGIC. At 2:05 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, Jeffrey transitioned, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves to mourn his loss, but cherish his memory, two sons, Brice Jeffrey Patterson, Kokomo, and Gabriel D. Shawver, of Marion, Indiana; two daughters, Bri'anna J. Patterson (Tranell) and Adiesha T. Smith, both of Kokomo. He leaves four brothers, Homer E. Walker (Jacqueline), Timothy Smith (Jill) and Randall Hoosier, all of Kokomo, and Phillip J. Smith, of Ellenwood, Georgia; two sisters, Mary Lou Johnson and Sandra DeVost (Vincent), both of Kokomo; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in eternal rest by his parents, the late Willie Ann Knowling and Jesse Adley; in addition to two sisters; two brothers; and two grandchildren. A celebration of life will commence at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Refreshing Springs COGIC, 3112 Easy St., Kokomo. Pastor A. Wendell Brown, officiant and elder Andre Lamont Brown, eulogist. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday. Final Internment will take place in Crown Point Cemetery.
