Eric Bowens

Eric Jerome Bowens was born January 16, 1965 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Billy G. Bowens, Sr. and Perry B. Simmons Bowens. He attended Kokomo Schools and graduated from Kokomo High School in 1983. Eric earned an Associate Degree in Heating and Cooling Technology from IVY Tech Kokomo. Eric was a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed at Menards, Syndicate Sales and, lastly, United Parcel Service (UPS.) Eric also operated a car detailing business and lawn care business. He was a meticulous bookkeeper. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Eric was a caring and kind person. He took great pride in taking care of his mother making sure her needs were met. He will be remembered for his mild and helpful spirit. Eric was the uncle that his nieces and nephews could depend on for help. He was a source of delight, who was always upbeat. Eric departed this life on Saturday, December 5th at the age of 55 years, 10 months, 20 days. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy G. Bowens, Sr. and brother, Andre L. Bowens. Eric leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Perry B. Bowens; brothers, Michael V.(Cheryl) Simmons and Billy G. (Loretta) Bowens, Jr. sister, Jocelyn Middleton; aunts, Bessie Williams, Sallie Simmons and Dorothy Simmons, family matriarch cousin Henrietta Gaines; nephews, Michael V. Simmons II, Craig (Jennifer) Simmons, Randous (Latasha) Bowens and Marcus Bowens; Nieces Lisa (Lance) Gunn, Jolandria (Ceasar) Fields, Tracie Simmons, Cecilia Middleton, I'yeesha Middleton and Ja'Nasia Barbary; 9 great-nephews and 2 great nieces; a very special cousin Cynthia Orr; and a host of family and friends. There will be a visitation Sat Dec 12 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Grace Memorial Institutional C.O.G.I.C. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery.
