Mother Artificial Walker, 80 years young, of Indianapolis, Indiana received her wings to Glory early Saturday morning, September 14, 2019. Mother Walker was the former first lady of Southern Baptist Church, under the pastorate of the late, Pastor Tommy L. Walker, Sr. Being and avid and dedicated church worker, she served in many capacities in the church including the Mother's Board, Usher Board, Missionary Society, Sunday School Teacher, Senior Choir, former Women's Day Chairlady, and was manager of the Walker Family Singers.
She and her late husband Pastor Walker also were the recipients of the Parents of The Year Award from Wheeler Boy's and Girls Club.
Mother Walker was well known throughout the community as a loving and giving servant who never met a stranger and opened her arms to many. She was full of love and compassion and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include: sons, George L., Jimmie L., Sr., Andrew L. Sr., Tommy Lee, Jr., Pastor Dennis Lee, Michael D., Anthony M., and Willie E. Walker; daughters, Angela J., Patricia A., and Michelle, R. Walker; brother, Tommy Young; sister, Laura K. Randle; 24 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and a host of many other loving relatives and friends.
A two day Celebration of Life for Mother Artificial Walker will begin Friday, September 20, with calling from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Southern Baptist Church, 2446 N. Gale, Indianapolis, Indiana 46218, and Homegoing Services will be at 11:00 am Saturday morning, September 21, 2019 at Grace Missionary Baptist Church, 1501 N. College Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202, with additional calling beginning at 10:00 am. Floral tributes may be delivered to the church beginning one hour prior to calling each day.
She will be laid to rest in New Crown Cemetery.
